There are not enough naps in the world

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

The first day back to work after a long (and fun filled) holiday weekend is always a bummer. I was so tired.

Despite the fact that I fell asleep on the drive home.

And slept on and off from about 3:30 – 7 after we got home.

And went to bed at my regularly scheduled time.

I guess staying up way past my bedtime every night and spending the day light hours out in the hot sun kind of took it out of me.

As predicted I ate pretty much nothing that was on my low sodium diet. I may or may not have consumed a total of 4 hot dogs over the course of the weekend.

It is also possible we had Pizza Sam’s (with ham of course) at 1:00 in the morning.

I have not seen 1:00 in the morning in a long time, but some how Pizza Sam’s tastes even better at that time of day.

Strawberries from the Farm Stand. Aren’t they cute with there little stems?

Here’s some beet greens from our pick up from the Farmer this week. The food from there is so beautiful! I have not had beet greens before, but I hear they are good.  He also gave us sugar snap peas (yum) and a whole bunch of lettuce. The lettuce is all different shaped leaves. It is actually making the salads a little more interesting.

A couple of the beet greens came with little beets attached.

The one thing I don’t have a picture of that I wish I did is the little baby kitten the Farmer had. His mama left him, so they took him in. He is a little fluff ball with white feet (all four!) and strong lungs. He had no problem letting everyone know it was supper time!

Back to Reality

What’s worse than going back to work after a long holiday weekend?

Going back to work after having the whole week off.

What’s worse than going back to work after having the whole week off?

Going back to work after having the whole week off on the last day of the month!

There should be a rule that the last day of the month can’t be on a Monday. It is just too much work for a Monday!

I’m not even sure what I did today, but it was a lot. I was literally swimming in paperwork.

Sometimes I am not sure if the aftermath of a vacation is worth the time off…oh wait…yeah it is!!

Random thoughts about my Ipod

Friday, September 18th, 2009

At my job we are set up in what is called a “collabrative work environment”. What this means, is no one has any doors and anyone can walk up and interrupt you at any time.

So since Em & I both have fancy pants I Pods, we’ve been listening to tunes while we work. As I explained to one of my co-workers “because I don’t have a door” . So when I put my ear buds in I say “I’m closing my door”.

Of course my favorite thing has been to get CD’s from library and put them in my tunes. This week I rented Coldplay’s new album.

Now at this point I must digress, to tell you that I do not like Coldplay and think they are one of the most over-rated bands in history. However, having said that, there is something about their song Viva La Vida that I just loved. It was a bit painful to admit at first.

So I got the CD because I liked that song and thought maybe they might have other songs I liked and I had mis-judged them. No I did not. Turns out, I just like the one song. They are still over-rated.

My new favorite thing that I just found out about is Pandora. I just learned about it and am disappointed that I did not know about this weeks ago! You put in artist you like (not Coldplay) and it plays other music it thinks you might like. And it’s free and it just plays all day.

ALL DAY. FOR FREE. TUNES I LIKE.

I am even more addicted to my I Pod now. I gotta say as much as I wanted one, I wasn’t sure how much I would really use it.

Turns out, about 6 hours a day.

Sandwiches and other randomness

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

Woo Hoo! It may be Thursday, but it’s my Friday thanks to the long weekend.

Which is good because everyone has been really cranky at work. A day less of that is fine with me.

I think everyone in town was planning on leaving early today, so figured they better get to work on time because I have never seen that much traffic at 7:30 and the Starbucks was lined up around the building  (it’s a big building).

Craziest thing happened today (I may be exaggerating slightly) at lunch. We ordered sandwiches from a deli that we love and I picked out one I thought sounded (relatively) healthy (They have 55 sandwiches to choose from. I literally have to start reading the menu at 8:30 in order to have time to make up my mind.)

I ordered the half size to have some kind of portion control. In the past I have been a little disappointed with the half sizes, they seemed a little lacking.

Since I have been on very reduced calorie intake as of late, the half might as well have been a Thanksgiving dinner. I unfortunately ate the whole thing and was miserable all afternoon.

Note to self, you can’t eat as much as you used to.

Speaking of talking to yourself, my History instructor in high school used to always say “So I said to myself -Self, (insert random statement here)” and he thought he was very clever. He wasn’t.

So anyhoo,  I rode my bike when I got home to make up for the giant half sandwich.

Then somehow I got suckered into staining the deck. All I know is my back is not going to be happy tomorrow.

We will be heading up to see the Fam tomorrow, so no posts probably until we get back. But count on plenty of baby pictures!

I guess that’s enough randomness for one post…

Santa has arrived!

It’s like Christmas in June or something.

The old Elph wasn’t really working like it should anymore (read as: takes three pictures and the battery dies. New batteries. That we just bought.), so Hubs informed me that he got me a new camera so I could take pictures on our camping trip.

You mean more than three? That’s crazy talk.

I thought the old Elph was so small when we first got it (now the only thing small about it is the screen) but this new one is soooo much lighter. When you carry your camera around in your purse, this is a definite advantage. And yet the screen is so big! How do they do it?

But wait There’s More!

He then got the hook up on somebody’s (you know who you are) old IPOD Touch! He recently got a free one and I was GREEN with envy. I can’t even tell you.

What can I say, I like gadgets. Especially small ones. Like my tiny laptop.

But I was talking about my newfangled IPOD thingy that I have no idea how to use but I love it!

I feel so hip and cool now that I can put Justin Timberlake music on my IPOD touch!

Er…wait…that didn’t come out quite right…

Found!

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

I was digging in my purse for something today at lunch and there it was! My earring! I was so excited I called hubs and he told me that the bottom of my purse is a black hole and you never know what you might find in there.

I don’t think that’s true.

I don’t know how it got in there, I must have knocked it off putting on a jacket or putting the purse handle on my shoulder or something. No clue. But I am so glad it landed in there and not on the ground somewhere!

As soon as I got home I put my earrings back in, and now I feel complete.

I noticed that in my Photo Friday last week I  am wearing said earrings. I’m not kidding, I NEVER take them off, even back country camping.

Lost

Monday, June 8th, 2009

Step back in the time machine a moment as we go to Christmas 1997. Hubs and I had been married just over 2 months.

I gave him a Pioneer reciever. He was totally surprised. It of course has long since been replaced with newer technology.

He gave me some simple gold hoop earings that are exactly the right size hoop. I have worn those earrings almost everyday since. As a matter of fact I rarely even taken them out. There has been no new earring technology.

When I woke up this morning, I was only wearing one. Uh-oh.

I assumed the other one probably fell out during the night and was in the bed somewhere. Since Hubs was also still in the bed, I waited until I got home to look for it.

Tore the bed apart and no earing. Looked in the dirty clothes, all of the floor, took the couch apart.

Nope.

I am afraid I lost it outside yesterday when I was doing yard work. Which means it could be anywhere. I was all over the yard moving rocks around.

Here’s to hoping it turns up.

5 is the new Noon

Saturday, June 6th, 2009

Hubs and I went car shopping today (I’m sure he’s posting about it right now also).

There were 2 cars we wanted to check out, then pick one, buy it and be home in time for lunch.

Oh how naive we were.

Since we didn’t want to waste the whole day, we got to the first dealership right when they opened at 10 am.

We did not leave there until almost 12. So much for getting home for lunch.

But that’s ok, we’ll grab a quick bite on our way the other place and be home mid-afternoon.

At about a quarter to 3, we left there to go across the street to a cafe and discuss our options. What started out as choosing between 2 cars, has now somehow become choosing between 4 cars, 2 from each place.

We finally narrow it down to one dealership and head back over there to give those two cars another once over (and by once I mean a hundred). That dealership closes at 4, but since we decided which car to buy at about 3:50, we were there until almost 5.

So much for noon.

I’ll let hubs tell you about what we bought, since it’s his new baby. She’s real nice.

Wednesday has been renamed Busyday

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

Hopefully we will have our closing on the re-fi this afternoon. I won’t be convinced until the papers are signed.

Then, of course, tonight I have art studio. I have my fish all ready to enter into another art competition. Wish me luck, but it’s probably another donation to the art museum.

One of the husbands of my art friends is kind enough to take all of work over there. It’s about 40 minutes away, so I appreciate that!

Hubs has an meeting in the evening too.

I rescheduled a doctors appointment because a girl can only drive around so much.

In addition to all that beeswax, I also have a busy day at work. 8 am meeting (eek!) and a lot of work to get done before I leave early for the re-fi.

I don’t know if I will have enough energy to fast forward through Idol before bed (Go Danny!)
