Waiting for some perspective

Thursday, August 26th, 2010

There’s been a lot of waiting going on in the news as of late.

People waiting in a giant traffic jam for days…

Miners who are waiting to be rescued, won’t be for months

Kind of makes me feel bad for boycotting the local Taco Bell because I felt like they made me wait to long for my soft tacos.

Rainy Sunday

Sunday, January 24th, 2010

We have a bunch of activities coming up this week so I decided to plan ahead (it’s a new thing I’m trying…this planning ahead business) and make a big pot of chili to have on hand. I figure that way we can just heat it up and eat it whenever we are around. Since we probably won’t be eating at the same time, this seemed like a good idea.

Besides, who doesn’t love a big pot of chili on the stove on rainy January day?

I knew it!

Woodpecker

We had a Pileated Woodpecker out on the telephone pole this morning.

You know you’re from Michigan

When it’s 20 degrees, but the sun is shining, so you forgo a coat.

Then noticed everyone else had the same idea.

Sunday Quick Bread

Sunday, January 18th, 2009

The sun is out today which is doing wonders for my mood. Even though I am inside, just seeing it out the window is a delight.

I have spent much of my time today “puttering”. Other than the last little while that has been spent under a blanket, cat on the lap, reading a book. I just made some tea to warm my cold hands and am having a few animal crackers for a snack.

Is there any better way to spend a Sunday afternoon?

At some point we became Grandpa and Grandma

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

Since we’ve been vacating at home, we have not left much. We ran out a couple of times for lunch, but close by.

But Today was “Town Day”.

We went in to town because I had to get my hair “done”. Hubs got a hair cut too, while we were there. Since we were in town, we ran all of our town errands.

Since we are going to be gone all weekend we did not have to get groceries, but I did pick up some traveling snacks. (Just because it’s only an hour away does not mean you shouldn’t have snacks on hand.)

Conversation Quick Bread

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

The UPS man comes in to work today and hears the music playing on our over head speakers. The following conversation ensued.

UPS MAN: Hmm. Journey, you don’t hear that everyday.

ME: Oh I do! I have their greatest hits in my cd changer.

(pause)

UPS MAN: Huh.

I imagine him thinking to him self “Now THAT you don’t hear everyday.”

Quick Bread: Today at the Coffee Shop

Monday, June 30th, 2008

Me: I will have a regular coffee

Coffee Girl: What size?

Me: Medium

Snarky Coffee Girl: Short, Tall, or Grande?

Snarky Me: Whichever one is in the middle.

I don’t know why these coffee shop people are giving me such a hard time lately. Do they not realize I have not yet had my coffee and therefore am not interested in their games?

Quick Bread*

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

Yesterday at work, at about 8:30 the printer stopped working.

Since I am level one tech support, I got called in for the repair.

Which requires turning the printer off and then back on again.

I have mad skillz.

So once it was back up and running, someone asked what was wrong with it. To which I replied; “It wasn’t ready to start the day yet. It needed a restart”.

Don’t we all feel that way sometimes?

*Quick Breads are made with out yeast. I have decided it was a good way to describe a post which is just a quick funny or a quick thought. Stay tuned for more!
