Playing Golf Inside

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

I have been a little MIA on the blog lately. I would love to tell you it is because we are so busy working on the house or out on some adventure.

However, the truth is, I have only Wii Sports Resort and Tiger Woods Golf to blame.

I did shoot an 8 under par with a double eagle the other night though.

So as you can see my time has not been wasted.

Please ignore the pile of laundry, still unfinished front door, and other assorted unfinished business.

More New Year Stuff

Monday, January 5th, 2009

Since it can sometimes be difficult to come up with Blog topics (my life really is not all that exciting), I decided that for the new year, I would have some semi-regular features to help out. These are all pretty much stolen whole-sale from other blogs.

Top Five things I’m loving right now: Pretty basic concept. Come up with 5 random things I’m digging. Could be anything and I am a random savant. Probably won’t be every week since I tend to get obsessed with things for a pretty good length of time.

Photo Friday: There are several variations of this topic out there. Sometimes there is a pre-provided topic. I’m going to go ahead with Random again. I’m going to try and keep this one pretty regular and find something interesting from the week to share visually.

More Crafty Things: I have some pent up creative energy and a bunch of ideas floating around my head. So be on the look out for those. Time is always an issue, with all the house repairs, but I am hoping to make time this winter for some fun stuff.

Also, I am participating in a new fun book activity (more on that later) so there will be a lot more book reviews.

In my face

Friday, October 17th, 2008

A while ago I posted about finding Five Bucks while cleaning and that I wanted to buy coffee for me and Em (which I eventually did).

Well, today I read this post on Farmer’s Wife about found money. What a better plan!

It also made me remember back when we were first married and often came into unexpected money. The funny thing was, we would also come into an unexpected bill that would be almost exactly the same amount. It was so easy to see God’s hand at work then.

When you make more money, and have your emergency fund set up, you feel pretty self sufficient. Sometimes you have to be reminded that God provided all that stuff too.

And when he throws a little extra your way, maybe it wasn’t meant for you at all.

New Link

I want to introduce you to one of my artist friends! Check out her webpage!

Becky, Where have you been!?

Monday, August 25th, 2008

A lot has happened since I last posted! I will not overwhelm you with the fascinating details of it all in one post. Upcoming topics to look forward to, may include, but are not limited to:

Who’s more awesome, Billy Idol or Def Leppard?

The Olympics are over, so now what?

I bought something at the antique store, always a riveting topic.

We had a bunch of people at house and there were snacks! and prizes! and big fun!

We did not have a door on the bathroom during all the big fun.

So, stay tuned for all that excitement, unless it is pre-empted by some other big thing (unlikely).

When good cakes go bad

Monday, July 21st, 2008

I found the site Cake Wrecks today and it is hilarious! All the cakes are done by professionals and range from spelling errors to just plain creepy.

My favorite is one that  was clearly decorated verbatim as it says “Best Wishes Suzanne Under Neat That We Will Miss You”

The creepiest is a tie between the pregnant belly (it gives cutting the cake new meaning) and the “real” baby. The sad thing, the creepiest thing about that baby is NOT that it is a cake.

When you have a few minutes go through them all. It’s worth it!

Internet Vacation

Saturday, March 8th, 2008

There’s not much happening around here today. The sun is out, but it’s only 21 degrees. So going outside is just disappointing. I’ve been fighting a migrane since yesterday, so I’m not real energetic anyway.

Farmers Wife is not at home but on vacation someplace warm, so I am just going to look at pictures on her blog and warm try to warm up.

I particularly like this one on her photo blog.

Traveling the World

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

There is a lot of love traveling around the world these days.

Boomama (one of my favorite bloggers ever) just returned from Uganda. I hope you will read about her experience. It is so moving. There are links to blogs of her traveling companions that are inspirational and let you know how you can send some love from home.

Meanwhile, some friends of ours are saying goodbyes to family and friends to head to South Africa for a long term mission. They have packed up their family and as much of their belongings as they could fit in suitcases to follow God’s leading to another part of the world.

In the other direction, I came across this blog about a family that recently adopted three (3!) beautiful children from Liberia. Bringing home the love.

It warms me from the inside out to read their stories. Which is just what I needed to chase away this February feeling. All three are going through changes in there hearts, minds, and homes.

I’m going to say a prayer for these folks, some I know, some I don’t. I hope you will to.

New Pages

Sunday, January 13th, 2008

I’ve added a couple of new pages to my side bar: 6 disc changer and What I’m reading. Now you can know what CD’s I have playing in my car and what book (or books) I am currently reading. I will udate them as they change.

Also I have added This Weeks Menu, which I will try to remember to update on Sundays. Maybe it will help me keep on track with making one each week.

Blogroll Spotlight: The Daily Kitten

Wednesday, January 9th, 2008

I am really tired tonight from a long week. Also, I have several friends that are going through some really difficult things right now, and my heart is burdened with their turmoil. So, I am going to show you someplace that always brings a bright spot to a rough day.

Today I would like to spotlight a link on my blogroll: The Daily Kitten

If you need a pick me up, check out the Daily Kitten. Everyday at 3:07, there is a new kitten pic! Who doesn’t love that? The best part is they are accompanied by a little story about the kitten. Often they are rescued (sometimes from harrowing circumstances!) and come from all over the world. Since we got Marvin when he was 1 year old, I like to look at the stripeys and wonder if that is what he looked like when he was a baby and had a tail. Here’s one of my favorite kitty pics.
